Susan’s Home Health was born out of both experience and calling. After witnessing the intense stress, rushed environments, and declining quality of patient care in hospital settings, Susan knew something wasn’t right. Patients were overwhelmed. Families were anxious. And too often, people were being discharged without the support they truly needed to stay well. What started as concern became a calling.
Susan believed there had to be a better way—one that focused on preventing and/or reducing hospitalizations, not just reacting to them. One that gave patients the care they deserve in the place they feel safest: home. As a locally owned home health agency, Susan’s Home Health is built on relationships, not quotas. We take the time to know our patients, educate families, and anticipate problems before they become emergencies.
Our goal is simple but powerful: to bring peace, security, and skilled care into every home we serve. We believe that when patients feel supported and families feel informed, healing happens—and unnecessary hospital visits can be avoided. Our nurses and therapists are not only highly skilled, but deeply compassionate. We show up with professionalism, patience, and respect, treating every patient like family.

When considering inviting anyone into your home Florida native, Susan Knowles, has an established reputation as an upstanding, compassionate, and active community member of Manatee County. Having attended the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at State College of Florida (SCF), Susan graduated with her nursing degree. Moving forward she secured employment at Blake Medical Center. Previously, a co-owner of a mobile x-ray company, Knowles’ Mobile Diagnostics, her company provided x-ray services to homebound patients. Caring for homebound patients made an impact on Knowles. Realizing the growing need in this area, the desire to serve the Manatee County residents providing comprehensive medical care motivated Susan to open her own private home health care agency. Her own life experiences are personally interwoven into Susan Knowles’ ability to bring increased vitality of life to you in the comfort of your own home.

As a trauma and emergency department nurse, Joyce DeMaio provided care for a diverse group of individuals over a number of years. Having an extensive and dedicated background in the nursing profession DeMaio, originally from Long Island, moved to Florida where a new career opportunity in home health care nursing became a viable reality. She found the experience of caring for patients in their home to be satisfying and rewarding. As a result of this positive experience Joyce has enthusiastically partnered with Susan Knowles to open Susan’s Home Health Care Agency. DeMaio will continue to use her expertise in providing home health care where the need for this important service is growing in demand.
As a lifelong Bradenton resident Linda Siegler, Certified Nursing Assistant, has been an employee of the Manatee Memorial Hospital. Before going into patient care Siegler was working in the Medical Records Department at the hospital as a transcriptionist. Having an innate desire to be hands-on with the patients became the compelling motivation for Linda to become a CNA. Currently she is involved with home health care where she works with dedication to serving individuals who require this important home service. Joining forces with Susan’s Home Health team is a natural connection providing a wonderful opportunity for Siegler to continue her mission in helping others.
